The price of local government in 2017: Village of Gurnee

The Village of Gurnee budget was $60.99 million for its 2017 fiscal year, or $5,895 per household.

That's a decrease of 1.2 percent from 2016, when the village spent $61.71 million, or $5,965 per household.

Gurnee has 10,345 households and a population of 31,284.

Since 2001, the Village of Gurnee budget has fallen by 13.2 percent, from $70.26 million. The village population has grown 8.5 percent over the same period, from 28,834.

Salaries accounted for 33.7 percent of village spending in 2017. Gurnee property taxpayers paid $20.55 million for 214 full-time employees and 10 part-time employees.

In 2001, the village had 185 full-time employees and 18 part-time employees, and spent $15.79 million.
