Illinois state Sen. Dan McConchie (R- Hawthorn Woods) is thanking voters for going above and beyond to make the Combined County Shrimp Boil he co-hosted with fellow Republican Sen. Craig Wilcox (R-McHenry) an even bigger success than they anticipated.
“Thanks to the approximately 150 people who showed up to today's Combined County Shrimp Boil,” McConchie posted on Facebook after the Sept. 14 event in Cary. “You helped make the event a great success. I'm already looking forward to next year.”
In the days leading up to the three-hour gathering, McConchie had posted on Facebook that he was expecting around 100 people for the event that featured live music by Chicago-area band The Allstars, countless food dishes, raffles and games. The event, which was free to kids 12 and under and had ticket prices of $30 for adults, also featured a "Challenge the Senators to a Bag Throw" contest.
