Deerfield Park District issued the following announcement on Sept. 18.
The park district underwent a lengthy planning process in 2018 to establish a Master Plan for the renovation of Jewett Park.
The plan includes renovating both ball fields and the skatepark along with expanding the south end parking lot. Other components of the plan include relocating the Veteran’s Memorial, renovating playgrounds, adding a natural area, more sidewalks and a concert area.
Due to the extent of the renovation, the district elected to phase in the project. The first phase, which includes the ballfield and skatepark renovation, the parking lot expansion and relocation of the Veteran’s Memorial, is well underway.
This phase is intended to be substantially complete this fall. The second phase, which will focus on the north end of the park, is expected to begin in 2024.
