City of Waukegan issued the following announcement on Oct. 22.
Beginning JANUARY 1, 2020, possession, use, and consumption of adult recreational cannabis will be legal in Illinois. The City cannot regulate or ban possession or use. The City has limited powers, mostly related to zoning and sales.
The City and its Planning and Zoning Department will host a community meeting regarding the zoning regulations for adult recreational cannabis businesses on Wednesday, October 30th, at 5:30pm in City Hall, Council Chambers (100 N. Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue, second floor.) The public is invited and welcome.
