Chris Kasperski (R-Lindenhurst) is advising voters not to leave anything to chance when they go to the polls today.

Even though he is running unopposed in the Republican primary and is already set to take on 31st District incumbent Sen. Melinda Bush (D-Grayslake) in November, Kasperski has strict marching orders for voters as they prepare to cast their ballots.

“I want to emphasize to the voters that this upcoming primary is still important, yet precautions should be made when they go to their local polling station,” he told the Lake County Gazette. “Voters should bring their own blue or black pen to the polling place and can be assured that there is going to be ample measures taken to clean and disinfect the polling areas. We should not allow our fears to overcome our vigilance.”

A disabled Afghanistan combat veteran who served three years before earning a medical retirement, Kasperski says voters to live up to their civic duty, no matter what.

“Many Americans have fought and died for our right to vote, and we should honor that by doing our civic duty expediently and safely,” he added. “Take care to wash your hands often and make use of the hand sanitizers available at the polling locations.”

Kasperski has built his platform around a message of tax and pension reform, greater economic stability and job creation.

He argues Bush has lost focus, spending far too much time on social issues that aren’t nearly as important to the people of the district as the issues he has based his campaign on.

“She’s voted for virtually every tax there is and we’re already one of the highest-taxed districts in the state,” he previously told the Lake County Gazette. “I just don’t think people want the status quo.”
