Dan Yost (R-Antioch) is hoping voters in his 61st District see him as the face of change when they take to the polls today.

“I’m running for state representative because we need someone in Springfield who is going to take our state’s financial problems seriously and bring common sense solutions that don’t include even more tax hikes, which will hurt our families,” Yost, who has made tax reform a major part of his platform against incumbent Rep. Joyce Mason (D-Gurnee), told the Lake County Gazette. “Who is standing up for our families in state government? Who’s serving as a check on Pritzker’s high tax and spend agenda that’s forcing families out of the state?”

Yost, who is running unopposed in the GOP primary, insists he’s ready and willing to feel the void.

“I just don’t think current leadership is up to the task,” he added in an earlier press release. “The good thing is they’ve demonstrated that to voters over and over. My family has been in Illinois since 1835 and I won’t let irresponsible politicians continue chasing families out of the state through skyrocketing property taxes and corruption."

Once in Springfield, Yost vows that he’ll be the antithesis of Mason, who he charges in greatly indebted to longtime House Speaker Mike Madigan (D-Chicago) based on the hundreds of thousands of dollars she’s taken from him in campaign donations.

“Honesty and integrity in government are prerequisites for the effective delivery of services and responsible use of our tax dollars,” Yost said. “We deserve an independent leader in Springfield who will stand up for our district. Families in our community are tired of self-dealing politicians who fail to deliver results on issues that impact our day-to-day lives.”
