The percentage of unemployed residents was less than the statewide total of 34.7 percent for this demographic group. In 2018 the total Gurnee population reached 24,724.

Out of 17,926 people who had a job, 105 were employed in the Armed Forces and 17,821 belonged to the civilian labor force.
