ILLINOIS STATE HOUSE DISTRICT 62: Yingling Highlights New Safety Protocols for Essential Businesses

62

Illinois State House District 62 issued the following announcement on May 6

As new businesses have been reclassified as essential and allowed to reopen as of May 1, state Rep. Sam Yingling, D-Grayslake, is highlighting the adjusted safety protocols for businesses and manufacturers.

“Although the Governor’s Stay-At-Home order is still active, I am happy to see that the first steps to safely reopening the economy are being taken,” Yingling said. “Safety is of utmost importance right now, and I encourage local business owners to understand the important steps they should take to ensure people are safe.”

Starting May 1, essential businesses will be required to provide face coverings for all employees who are not able to maintain social distancing recommendations. The state will be implementing additional requirements for these businesses, including occupancy limits in stores and staggering employee shifts to ensure adequate social distancing recommendations are being followed. Employees can report violations by calling the Attorney General’s Workplace Rights Bureau at 1-844-740-5076 or emailing workplacerights@atg.state.il.us.

“Following these new safety protocols will not only allow more people to transition back into public spaces, but will also provide Illinois residents with the effective protection that they deserve,” Yingling continued. “We are all hopeful to return to our normal lives soon, and the fastest way we can do that is by following the safety procedures as recommended by the CDC and healthcare professionals.”
