Analysis: Zion pays $4.21 for every $1 pensioners contribute to Zion Firefighters Pension Fund

Taxpayers contributed 80.8 percent of the $1,232,695 the Zion Firefighters Pension Fund brought in 2018, or $4.21 for every $1 from pension members, according to a Lake County Gazette analysis of the latest data reported to the Illinois Department of Insurance Pension Division.

In all, Zion contributed $996,072 to the fund, which saw a $5,354 decrease in revenue over 2017. Members contributed $236,304, or 19.2 percent, in 2018. Another $319 came from other unspecified sources.
