Cost of college went up for all students at the College of Lake County

In-state tuition and fees rose 2.8 percent for 2018-19 at the College of Lake County, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

Illinois residents paid $9,212 to attend the two-year public institution this year – $252 more than the $8,960 charged for 2017-18.

Non-resident students would have paid 32.8 percent more than residents this year, or $12,236. Non-resident tuition and fees grew 3.1 percent from $11,872 in 2017-18.

About 99 percent of the school's undergraduate population are Illinois residents.

Data shows 51 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 520 students received grants or scholarships totaling $2.6 million and 84 students took out student loans totaling more than $376,956.

Including all undergraduates (14,193), 3,412 students used grants or scholarships totaling $12.5 million, and 530 students took out $2.5 million in federal student loans.
