VILLAGE OF DEER PARK: Planning & Zoning Commission Member

Board

Village of Deer Park issued the following announcement on Aug. 20.

The Village is looking to fill a vacant seat on the Planning & Zoning Commission.  If you are interested please contact the Village Office.

Position Overview:

The Planning & Zoning Commission is a seven-member board whose members are appointed by the Village President, with the consent of the Village Board of Trustees, to serve four-year terms.  Planning & Zoning Commission’s primary duties relate to the Comprehensive Plan, zoning ordinance and subdivision regulations while serving as an advisory board to the Board of Trustees.   

The Planning Commission meets on the first Monday evening of each month at 7:00 p.m. at the Vehe Barn. Meetings are scheduled monthly however the Commission only meets if there is a project to review or discuss. Meetings typically last two hours.

 The Planning & Zoning Commission conducts reviews and makes recommendations to the Village Board of Trustees about proposed zoning actions and various planning documents. The Commission’s responsibilities include review of the following application types: variations, special uses and planned unit developments.  Time requirement outside of meeting attendance is typically a couple of hours of preparation time to review items of discussion.
