Deerfield-Bannockburn FPD responds to 65 fires in 2018

Deerfield-Bannockburn Fire Protection District responded to 733 calls in 2018 - 2.1 percent more than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Deerfield-Bannockburn included 65 fires - 42 structure fires, 10 vehicle fires and 13 other fires. The fire department also responded to two calls for ruptures, explosions or overheating.

In all, the department saw $566,001 in fire loss - or about $8,708 per fire.

The department also received 666 false calls, including one malicious call and 665 other false calls.

The calls resulted in one civilian fire-related injury. Additionally, three fire service members were injured in fire-related incidents and 12 were injured in non fire-related incidents.

The Deerfield-Bannockburn Fire Protection District had an annual budget of $12,262,199 in 2018.

The Deerfield-Bannockburn FPD Firefighters Pension Fund, which has 43 active employees and 29 retired or inactive employees, was $1,813,843 positive as of April 2017, according to the fund's mandated filings with the Illinois Department of Insurance. That amounts to $30,743 for every fire in 2017.
