DEERFIELD SCHOOL DISTRICT 109: DPS 109 Now Offering Free Drive-Thru COVID-19 Testing For Students & Staff

Covid

Deerfield School District 109 recently issued the following announcement.

Good afternoon, District 109 community:

Deerfield Public Schools District 109 is pleased to announce that it is now offering on-site COVID-19 testing for current DPS 109 students and staff with results generally available the next day. The testing will be offered outside the District Office at 517 Deerfield Road in a drive-thru format. A testing professional will perform the test using the Anterior Nares Nasal Swab. The cost of testing is being covered by the district.

Testing is only available with a referral from nurses or administrators working in any of our six buildings. Individuals can be referred if they display COVID-like symptoms at school or before they come to school, or if they come in contact in a DPS 109 facility or school bus with an individual that tests positive.

Every potential COVID-19 case in our district should start with a conversation between the possible patient (or parent/guardian) and the building nurse or administration. If you’re not sure of the number to reach the nurse in your building, click here. Please make sure you are proactively calling in as soon as you suspect COVID-19 symptoms or potential exposure. Our teams are prepared to walk families and our staff through the proper steps and determine if testing applies and which school exclusion scenarios may apply.

You probably have a lot of questions! For answers to some frequently asked questions, and a short 4-minute video explaining and demonstrating the testing process, head to www.dps109.org/covidtesting.

Have a great day and stay healthy!
