Lake Forest High School teacher Amy Jerr Lyons rang in the new year celebrating a new love in Florida.

Lyons posted a photo of her and a man at a table outside in Miami.

“2020 has no doubt been memorable for troubling reasons. Thankfully, it’s also memorable for bringing a beautiful love into my life and a renewal of hope and joy for my future,” Lyons said in a removed Facebook post.

Usually this would be the cause for celebration but Lyons allegedly told school officials she felt unsafe entering the school until COVID-19 vaccines were in place.

“I’m told by an employee of Lake Forest High School (IL) that this LFHS English teacher has been too scared to come into the building—yet here she is, celebrating the New Year in Miami. (Bravo to the joyful, maskless faces, despite the hypocrisy),” a Twitter user going by the name Emma Woodhouse tweeted

The revelation comes as Lake Forest High School just announced students taking part in extracurricular activities would be mandated to take COVID-19 tests.

Staff, such as Lyons, on the other hand, would not be required to take a test.

Teachers unions across the country have lobbied to keep school out of session.

Critics have pointed out public school teachers are paid regardless of whether school is in session or not.
