The Let's Do It Better Group said it is "disappointed" that Lake Forest High School Principal Chala Holland is leaving the district for a new job in Naperville.
Holland was picked for the assistant superintendent of administrative services in the Naperville school district. She will continue her role at Lake Forest High School until June 30.
"We support Dr. Holland and are disappointed she is leaving," the group told Lake County Gazette. "We offer our deepest appreciation for her service to our community and wish her the very best in her new endeavor."
As the high school district prepares to start the replacement process, the organization, which supports four candidates for election, wants the hiring process slowed and more transparency.
"We call again for slowing down that hiring process to give our community time to forge a new shared vision for the future before making this critical hiring decision," the organization said. "We believe we will start to see better results by valuing community collaboration and thoughtful deliberation."
The organization is also working to dispel accusations it "was trying to remove Chala."
Let's Do Better said in a statement that it has not always supported Chala's policies and decisions, but it wanted her to "continue to serve."
The accusation, the group said, came through an email blast from rival Wrong Track/Caucus campaign that "probably didn't stop to think about how their email might make Chala feel."
