GURNEE PARK DISTRICT: Spring 2021, New Beginnings

Gurnee Park District issued the following announcement on Mar 22.

2021 is truly a new beginning and this spring we're looking forward to FUN within our facilities, parks and programs. Phase 4 of the Restore Illinois Plan provides more flexibility for fitness, parks and recreation. We are happy to announce that the fitness center at Hunt Club Community Center opened  March 8th, allowing members who frequented that location to return as well as all members to enjoy our indoor track! We have also recently announced that we will be opening the Hunt Club Park Aquatic Center for the 2021 summer season. Passes are on sale at the best rates through the end of March. We are excited to welcome the community back this summer with increased safety and cleaning protocols while still enjoying everything the center has to offer!

You may notice that this guide does not include our Summer Camp options as we have done in the past. Our staff are working diligently with the Illinois Department of Public Health to finalize group capacities and other safety mitigations which have changed from our camp offerings last summer. Information regarding summer camp is now available on our website. Summer camp registration will open on April 5.

Spring has so much to offer including soccer, martial arts, special events like egg hunts and surprise Easter deliveries, "Operation Egg Drop" to your home! We have some great options for your children for days off school so be sure to take a look! Finally, I am happy to report that our Growing Tree Preschool is thriving with in person learning and we are currently accepting students for the upcoming school year. Please be watching for updates on our Spring Open Houses!

Now that the weather is improving, I would also like to encourage you to visit your nearest park for a 30 minute walk. Our GO Gurnee movement continues to thrive as residents take to the sidewalks, paths and streets in our community to stay active while socially distancing! Visit gogurnee.com for more information.

Above all else, we want to thank you for your loyalty and commitment to Gurnee Park District as we respond and evolve in the face of the ongoing pandemic. As always, we welcome your questions and suggestions especially during this period of transition and rebuilding!
