The Season of Rejection Will Change

Newspaper 1000x667

Barrington Area Chamber of Commerce issued the following announcement on Aug. 9

Listening to leaders from around the world share their stories and perceptions during the recent Global Leadership Summit, there are many phrases, themes and motivations that resonate with you. So, hearing a reference to a: “Season of Rejection,” I could see the levels of interpretation in today’s world.

For those struggling on a personal level, striving to reach their goals but working through the repeated “Nos” and setbacks, your Season of Rejection can be heavy. Makes me think of the illustration of rolling the giant bolder up the hill, only for it to fall back several times causing you to start over repeatedly, before you finally reach the top and face the smooth trip to the other side.

For local business owners, the Season of Rejection is also real. From struggling to stay open, filling employee vacancies, getting the products you need, rising prices and more, the struggle is pandemic in itself.

How do we weather the Season of Rejection – hope, faith, persistence, refusal to give up. Seasons change, we “Stay committed to our visions”; we focus on how to go from “Underestimated to Unstoppable.” We "Collaborate and Partner" with others. We believe that “No one can tell you how big your dream can be.”

Many thanks to the Barrington Area Development Council (BADC) for investing in local leaders and generously organizing their participation in the recent Global Leadership Summit. Rejection and struggle is part of every life and every generation - but as history and experience documents, seasons change. -- Suzanne Corr, BACC President
