Dear editor,
Peter Pettorini is running to be an Illinois State Representative and is calling upon his fellow citizens to send a teacher to Springfield. As a former student of Mr. Pettorini, not only would I love to highlight what makes a teacher so valuable for Springfield, but also why I believe Pettorini is the best teacher for the job.
Representatives in the Illinois House are chosen to represent the people of their corresponding districts and make decisions in the best interests of their communities. The job of being an educator is more similar than many would believe at first glance. Teachers must take into account the needs of hundreds of students annually and make decisions in each of their best interests without sacrificing the educational experience of another student. They must also cooperate with teachers and relay the needs of their students to their superiors much like the House coordinates with the Senate and the Governor.
What sets Peter Pettorini apart is his capacity to listen with compassion and truly care for those under his watch. Pettorini cares enough to be honest about the realities of life and chooses to prepare his students not only for his class but for life beyond the classroom. He never lets his own beliefs and desires interfere with his ability to help others and has chosen a path of guidance and selflessness that countless students have been lucky enough to have experienced, myself included. If there’s any teacher to send to Springfield, his name is Peter Pettorini.
Sincerely,
Ender Kongkaeow
