Marko Sukovic, chairman of Vernon Township Republicans, reflected on a membership drive event for the local Republican Party organization for Vernon Township in Lake County, Illinois. In a statement posted to the organization's website July 28, Sukovic highlighted that attendees felt more motivated to be involved.
“Summer can be an incredibly busy time for us all but it was such a pleasure to get our organization together to celebrate and catch up with each other. We welcomed three new couples to our organization," Sukovic said in a news release. "Attendees left feeling inspired about the community we are building at VTR and focused about the work ahead. A main point of discussion among the group was about planning for the future and the priorities of our team as we head into yet another election year.”
The event took place at the home of Terri and Rick Scardino in Long Grove, according to the release.

She has served as an appointed precinct committeewoman for Vernon 256 for 21 years and began her service as vice chairwoman of VTRO in 2016, according to her page on the Vernon Township Republicans website.
The mission page of the Vernon Township Republicans website claims the group focuses on building a community of engaged voters locally so that the Republican voting base can grow, more qualified Republicans can win elected office and the lives of Illinoisans can be improved.
The event was part of a membership drive that includes the stated goal of raising $12,500 annually through regular monthly or annual payments from supporters of the organization.
