BRAVE Books will host a gathering at the Barrington Area Library's Zimmerman Room on Aug. 27 at 3 p.m. The Barrington Area Library is located at 505 N. Northwest Hwy. in Barrington.
Kirk Cameron and BRAVE Books have hosted story hours and library visits nationwide with the goal of steering the nation back to its spiritual roots. They focus on instilling positive values and moral principles in young minds.
The initiative seeks to foster a sense of community and unity among families, pastors, teachers, and local representatives as they come together at their local libraries to celebrate the virtues of faith, hope, and love.
“BRAVE Books is on the frontlines fighting for the hearts and minds of our children through national events like 'See You At The Library' and BRAVE Story Hours,” the company's website noted.
BRAVE Books is a Christian company with a mission to provide alternative children's literature that promotes so-called traditional American values and helps parents instill a love of truth in their children to withstand harmful influences. The company's owners aim to create a unique learning experience through epic adventure stories that equip children with a brave spirit to combat the challenges faced by the nation today.
The move comes as the Illinois Freedom Caucus called for local libraries to leave the Chicago-based American Library Association (ALA) after it hired Emily Drabinski as its president. The Caucus suggested that Drabinski will use her position to promote extreme ideologies, leading them to call for disassociation from the ALA and its alleged shift toward a so-called woke agenda.
“I just cannot believe that a Marxist lesbian who believes that collective power is possible to build and can be wielded for a better world is the president-elect of @ALALibrary,” Drabinski said on Twitter after getting the job. “I am so excited for what we will do together. Solidarity! And my mom is so proud.”
The state of Montana pulled out of the ALA after Drabinski was named president.
