Eric Rinehart | Rinehart for Lake County
Shields Township Republicans noted a recent announcement from the Lake Forest Police Department in which police said they had arrested an individual in connection with a spate of burglaries.
However, the group said under lax prosecution thje alleged burglar will likely be back out on the streets soon.
“Great work by the Lake Forest Police Department but we have little confidence that Kim Foxx-endorsed Lake County State’s Attorney Eric Rinehart will fully prosecute these criminals who may have even been released earlier by Rinehart or Foxx. And thanks to the Democratic Safe-T Act, they’ll be back on the streets in no time. Let’s stop this madness by electing longtime prosecutor Mary Cole for Lake County State's Attorney!" Shields Township Republicans said on their Facebook page.
The Lake Forest Police Department said on it Facebook page that police had apprehended a burglary suspect following multiple incidents in the area.
After responding to a burglar alarm on Green Bay Road, officers identified the suspect using surveillance footage from residents and subsequently located and detained the individual on Sunset Drive.
The Lake Forest Police Department Detectives noted it will collaborate with the Lake County State's Attorney’s Office to determine charges, with the suspect's identity being withheld until then.
"More information will be shared once charges are filed,” the Lake Forest Police Department said on Facebook.
Rinehart has been criticized heavily for being only one of two state’s attorneys statewide – the other being Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Foxx – to support the Safe-T Act which went into effect on Sept. 18.
Conservative activists are rallying against Rinehart with plans to challenge his reelection bid in the upcoming 2024 election. Critics accuse Rinehart of prioritizing his far-left policies over public safety and emphasize the importance of voting him out of office.
