The resolution that gave the Waukegan Chamber of Commerce a six-month lease for office space in City Hall will be reconsidered at the City Council's Oct. 2 meeting. The lease was previously shortened to expire on Feb. 29, 2024.
According to the article, "The Waukegan City Council will reconsider the approval of a lease agreement with the Waukegan Chamber of Commerce for office space in City Hall after approving a lease limited to six months at its Aug. 21 meeting." The decision to reconsider the lease agreement was made at the City Council's Sept. 8 meeting when First Ward Alderperson Sylvia Sims Bolton made the motion for reconsideration.
The original lease agreement, which set the rent at $10 per year, gave the chamber first-floor office space. However, a motion by Alderperson Thomas Hayes and seconded by Alderperson Lynn Florian shortened the lease termination date from April 30, 2025. The amendment also reduced the rent to $5 for the shorter term.
The Waukegan City Council will now have the opportunity to review and potentially revise the lease agreement with the Waukegan Chamber of Commerce at its upcoming Oct. 2 meeting.
