Denice Bocek was sworn in on the Buffalo Grove Village Board of Trustees on Oct. 18, 2021, to fill a position vacated by Gregory Pike. The special meeting was called for 7:30 p.m. that day.
"Denice Bocek will be sworn into office on the Buffalo Grove Village Board of Trustees," according to a statement.
Bocek, a 27-year resident of Buffalo Grove, has a long history of community involvement. She served on the Village's Plan Commission for 12 years, holding the positions of secretary and vice chairman. She also served on the Sign Code and Appearance Review Team committees.
During her time on the Plan Commission, Bocek championed the pet store ordinance and participated in the review and update of the animal ordinance. She was also involved in the Lake-Cook Corridor Plan development and strategic planning community engagement sessions.
Bocek's experience in commercial real estate construction and development, spanning over 30 years, was also noted as valuable for the village. Village Trustee President Eric Smith expressed his appreciation for Bocek's willingness to serve and her expertise in addressing the community's issues and opportunities.
Bocek will fill the position vacated by Pike, who resigned effective Sept. 19 due to his relocation outside of Buffalo Grove. Pike had served as a village trustee since 2019.
At the meeting, Smith sought approval to appoint Bocek to fill the vacant trustee position, and she immediately assumed her duties following the oath of office.
"We are fortunate to have Denice Bocek stepping up to serve our village, and I look forward to working closely with her," Smith said.
With Bocek now on the board, the Buffalo Grove Village Board of Trustees will continue its work in addressing the needs of the community and pursuing opportunities for growth and development.
