Jake Weisser, a former Lake Forest resident and caucus committee member, said the small faction of people in the community and the Lake Forest caucus committee who oppose Mayor Randy Tack’s election do so on a partisan basis, not based on Tack’s actions as mayor. The discussion was prompted by podcast host Joe Weiss questioning the stance against Tack despite his impact on the community.
“I think that certain people who fall on the more progressive side don't see that as being a positive, they see that as being a negative. They want to have more contentious types of elections and that sort of thing, because I think that in the long run it does benefit them,” Weisser told hosts Pete Jansons and Joe Weiss on the Lake Forest podcast. “They don't really see the caucus process as being a benefit in a lot of ways because it doesn't serve their ultimate goal which is more city government, more government in general.”
“However when it comes to Dr. Tack and his accomplishments, I think that the problems that they found with Dr Tack were very minuscule in comparison to the benefits that he's had for the city,” Weisser said. “I think what it comes down to is there's a faction of people, a small faction, who would like to see Lake Forest become more like Highland Park or more like Deerfield or some of the surrounding communities.”
