The Mundelein Village Board of Trustees has appointed Jason Seeley as the village's police chief. Previously, Seeley had served in an interim capacity since July 2023.

According to a Village of Mundelein press release, Mayor Steve Lentz expressed his support for the new appointment. "I look forward to working with and supporting Chief Seeley as our Police Chief. His experience and background have prepared him well to serve in this position. The entire Mundelein Police Department is a source of pride for Mundelein," said Lentz.

In preparation for his role, Seeley received mentorship from retired Village of Gurnee Police Chief Kevin Woodside during his six-month tenure as interim chief, according to the same press release. This period allowed the village time to help ease him into his new role, said Village Administrator Eric Guenther.

Guenther further highlighted Seeley's proactive approach towards his professional development. "Seeley is a self-starter who uses every opportunity for training that's available to him," he said.

Seeley's career in law enforcement began with the Mundelein Police Department in 1999 when he was hired as a patrol officer, according to another press release from the Village of Mundelein. He steadily advanced through the ranks, holding positions such as investigator, patrol sergeant, investigative sergeant, investigative commander, and deputy chief before assuming the role of police chief.

The press release also revealed that Seeley recently achieved an Illinois Voluntary Police Chief certification and was a scholarship recipient for both the Police Executive Research Forum and the Senior Management Institute for Police. He holds a Bachelor's degree from Columbia College of Missouri and a Master of Arts in Administrative Leadership from the University of Oklahoma.
