Lake Forest podcast host: ‘I think’ Lake Forest For Transparency are ‘caught in a trap’

Joe Weiss, host of the Lake Forest podcast, said he questions the legitimacy of Lake Forest For Transparency's claim to be a 501(c)(3) organization, as they are not listed on the IRS website. He said there is a lack of transparency in their funding sources, especially regarding potential donations from mayoral candidates.

“If you go to the IRS website and you do a 501 C3 lookup, it’s not there,” host Weiss told host Jansons on the Lake Forest podcast. “Yet on December 7th of last year, they recorded a podcast that said they are a 501 C3. So show me the paperwork and more importantly, show me the money.”

“I think they don’t want to show the money because one of their biggest donors was probably Pru Bigler or her husband Frank,” said host Weiss. “They cannot then legitimately say they weren’t involved in the mayoral election, but they were funded by a mayoral candidate.  So I think they’re caught in a trap. The caucus discloses every penny it spends.”

This full episode is available on Apple Podcasts and Spotify.

The latest edition of the podcast focused on low voter turnout and local governance.
