The Beautification Committee of Mundelein, in collaboration with Tighthead Brewery, is set to host the Second Annual Spring into Summer Family Fest at the beginning of next month.
Mundelein Trustee Jenny Berman Ross expressed her hopes for the event, stating, "We’re hoping this event will help to inform the community about the important work we’re doing on the Beautification Committee and provide information on simple sustainability practices we can all implement to make a significant positive impact in our community and our world," according to a Village of Mundelein press release.
According to another Village of Mundelein press release, the summer festival is scheduled from noon to 4 p.m. on June 1 at Tighthead Brewery. The brewery is located at 161 N. Archer Ave., Mundelein.
Children's activities at the festival include Dave DiNaso's Famous Traveling World of Reptiles, face painting, craft activities, free popcorn and ice cream, and a butterfly photo screen. Additionally, there will be a Reach Rescue where children can meet some furry friends.
The family-friendly event also includes seed and plant giveaways, food trucks, live entertainment from School of Rock from 2-4 p.m., and an exchange of small gardening tools and flowerpots. Festival-goers will have an opportunity to "Ask a Master Gardener" for gardening tips and learn about native plants.
The Village of Mundelein press release also lists several exhibitors who will be present at the summer festival. These include the Mundelein Beautification Committee, Wild Ones of Lake County, Lake County Audubon Society, Lake County Forest Preserves, Loch Lomond Garden Club, Fremont Township Community Garden, Mundelein Park District, Lake County Master Gardeners, Mundelein Farmers Market, Mundelein Community Connection, Mundelein Arts Commission, Mundelein Gardener's Facebook Group, Oak Defender: Nurturing Native Trees, and the GLMV Chamber of Commerce.
