Jim Carris, Illinois 10th District Republican Candidate, said there's a need for incentive-based motivations to help property owners save on real estate taxes and provide tax breaks for business owners starting new ventures. Carris was on a recent episode of the Lake Forest podcast.

"We need the incentive-based motivations for property owners to perhaps save on some real estate taxes, if, in fact, they do lease the space," said Carris on the Lake Forest podcast.  “There's no incentive now for business shop owners to have the incentive to go ahead and get some level of tax breaks to start a new business. Give them free filing of LLCs so that when they file an LLC, it's not $500 a year plus the legal cost and the tax cost; give them some credit for that.”

“I'm a big believer in incentivizing people to create a business, and I'm a small business guy, so we've got to help them out because right now, to file an LLC and keep it maintained, it's $450 a year,” said Carris. “You've got the bookkeeping, you can't do your taxes alone, you've got to follow up with lawyers, etc. It's a lot of money, particularly for a startup."
