The owners of M.A.S.S. Holdings are seeking a conditional use permit from the city of Waukegan for property located at 3005 Central Ave., to establish an antique automotive restoration shop. Their application is scheduled to be reviewed at the Waukegan Municipal Planning and Zoning Commission meeting, which has been rescheduled to June 27.
According to their application in the Waukegan Municipal Planning Commission's June 27 meeting agenda, Luxury Motors Auto Body plans to perform various bodywork tasks, including panel work replacement and repair, Bondo work, filling, grinding and sanding affected areas, and painting. The facility will utilize paint booths with draft booths. Additionally, auto service work such as brakes, suspension components, engine and transmission repairs and replacements, differentials, and cooling systems will also be conducted.
Six employees will be on-site during regular working hours, according to their application. These hours are set for Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., with peak hours anticipated on weekdays between 3 to 5 p.m. The nature of the business is described as a "drop off" service where vehicles remain in the shop until the restoration process is complete.
Luxury Motors Auto Body has proposed landscape buffers around the property that include shade and ornamental trees, deciduous shrubs, ground cover, and perennials. Variances for landscaping and driveway width will be sought through the Waukegan Development Review Board.
