Victim dies in Woodhollow Lane fire in Buffalo Grove

An unidentified victim was found dead at the scene of a fire at 630 Woodhollow Lane on Monday, July 22. The Buffalo Grove Fire Department responded to the call at 10:22 a.m.

According to a Buffalo Grove news release, firefighters arrived within five minutes of the call to a report of a fire in the garage attached to the two-story Woodhollow Lane house. Heavy flames in the garage were spreading to the house. Firefighters received reports of an occupant who had not been found.

"An aggressive interior attack with hose lines to the garage and house was made as firefighters searched for the missing occupant," stated the news release. An unidentified victim was found and pronounced dead at the scene. Release of the victim's identification was being withheld pending the Lake County Coroner's examination.

The fire was under control in approximately 30 minutes, according to the news release. Firefighters remained on scene to investigate the fire's cause. The Buffalo Grove Fire Department is leading the investigation in conjunction with the Illinois State Fire Marshal.

Area fire departments including Arlington Heights, Lincolnshire, Lindenhurst, Lake Forest, Long Grove, Wheeling, Prospect Heights, Glenview, Wauconda, and Rolling Meadows assisted the Buffalo Grove Fire Department, according to a Buffalo Grove news release. The Buffalo Grove Police and Public Works Departments also assisted.
