Illinois Tenth Congressional District candidate Jim Carris expressed support for athletes from his district, stating, "We can't wait to cheer you on as you go for gold and make our District proud!" He made this statement in a Facebook post on July 26.
"I want to give a huge shoutout to the incredible athletes from Illinois' 10th District who are representing Team USA in the 2024 Summer Olympics which open today in Paris, France," said Carris, according to Facebook. "Your hard work, dedication, and unwavering spirit have inspired us all. Your achievements are well deserved and a testament to the greatness of our District. We can't wait to cheer you on as you go for gold and make our District proud!"
According to Carris, the post highlights five individuals: gymnast Paul Juda; BMX racer Felicia Stancil; football player Korbin Albert; and rowers Peter Chatain and Grace Joyce. USA Gymnastics reported on July 27 that Juda had advanced to the all-around gymnastics final and that the US men’s team qualified for the team final. Juda ranked 13th in the all-around final with 82.865 points, while the US men’s team ranked fifth with 253.229 points. The men’s team final is scheduled for July 29 at 5:30 p.m. CEST/11:30 a.m., ET.

TeamUSA.com reports that BMX Freestyle Men’s and Women’s qualifying starts at 4:25 a.m. PDT/7:25 a.m. EDT. After two runs, the top nine riders will advance to the finals.
Olympic rowing events began on July 27 with single, double, and quadruple sculls heats. On July 28, men’s and women’s single and double sculls repechages, pair heats, lightweight double sculls heats, and four heats commenced.
