Jim Carris, an independent leader running for Congress in Illinois' 10th District, participated in a ridealong with the Waukegan Police Department on Friday, Aug. 9. The event aimed to demonstrate his commitment to supporting local law enforcement and ensuring family safety.

During the ridealong, Carris accompanied officers on routine patrols, gaining firsthand insight into the challenges faced by law enforcement professionals. This experience reinforced his dedication to advocating for policies that provide police departments with necessary resources to protect the community effectively.

"I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to spend time with the brave men and women of the Waukegan Police Department," Carris said. "Our law enforcement officers face heartbreak and danger daily, often in ways most of us will never experience. Yet, they continue to protect and serve with unwavering dedication. I am committed to ensuring they have the tools, training, and support necessary to continue doing their vital work."

As part of his campaign, Carris has emphasized public safety's importance, pledging to collaborate closely with law enforcement agencies. His focus includes addressing crime, improving access to essential resources and technology, and fostering stronger relationships between police and communities.

Carris is a local business leader running for Congress in Illinois' 10th District, which consists of Chicago's north and northwest suburbs, including Lake and portions of Cook and McHenry Counties. He aims to prioritize the economy, public safety, and national security.
