Buffalo Grove firefighters responded to a fire that caused $360,000 in damages and left a Lucinda Drive home uninhabitable on Thursday evening.

According to a Buffalo Grove Fire Department news release, firefighters were dispatched to 970 Lucinda Drive for a structure fire report at 7:16 p.m. on Sept. 19. While still heading to the address, Buffalo Grove police officers arrived on the scene and reported smoke coming from the house, which upgraded the alarm for more assistance.

The news release said that firefighters found heavy smoke on the second floor upon their arrival and began an aggressive interior attack. Firefighters confirmed that all occupants were out of the house, and the fire was brought under control within 15 minutes.

An occupant of the home was taken to Northwest Community Hospital for medical, non-life-threatening reasons, according to the news release. The building department was notified after the house was deemed uninhabitable. Damage was estimated at $360,000.

Firefighters remained on the scene with police officers until shortly after midnight to check for fires in void spaces and ensure there were no hot spots, said the news release. The cause of the fire remains under investigation by Buffalo Grove Fire and Police Departments and the Illinois State Fire Marshal's Office.
