An 87-year-old man from Buffalo Grove died after being struck by a car on Monday morning. The Buffalo Grove Police and Fire Departments responded to the incident at 8 a.m. at the intersection of Buffalo Grove Road and Larraway Drive.

According to a news release from the Buffalo Grove Police Department, a grey Toyota sedan traveling southbound on Buffalo Grove Road was driven by a 60-year-old woman from Buffalo Grove. The elderly male pedestrian was found at the scene with significant injuries and was transported to Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights by the Buffalo Grove Fire Department, where he was pronounced dead. The driver was also taken to the hospital as a precaution.

The news release said that the Buffalo Grove Police Department and the Lake County Major Crash Assistance Team are conducting an investigation into the incident. Buffalo Grove Road between Thompson Boulevard and Deerfield Parkway was closed for approximately four hours while law enforcement officials investigated, reopening by noon.

Investigators from both village and county agencies continue their investigation, as noted in the news release. No charges or citations have been filed at this time.
