FOIA Request to City of Highwood Regarding Unpaid Parking Violations on October 28, 2024.
In our continuous effort to provide comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at the Lake County Gazette have sent a request for public records under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act, 5 ILCS 140.
Our request specifically pertains to all parking violations that are currently unpaid within the jurisdiction of the City of Highwood. We have asked for a list that includes the name of the offender, their address, the amount due, violation date, and total due.
As an organization committed to holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public, access to such records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. We believe that as media professionals involved in gathering and reporting news to the public, we are eligible for a fee waiver.
