The Buffalo Grove Symphonic Band will perform its annual concert on Nov. 16 at Vernon Hills High School. | Village of Buffalo Grove
The Buffalo Grove Symphonic Band is set to perform its 24th annual Fall Concert at 7 p.m. on Saturday, November 16, at Vernon Hills High School, located at 145 Lakeview Parkway in Vernon Hills, Illinois.
According to a Village of Buffalo Grove news release, the concert is titled " 'Heard' of Goats" and will feature music by renowned composers from the 19th and 20th centuries. The repertoire includes pieces originally composed for wind bands as well as transcriptions from orchestral works. Featured composers include Persichetti, Verdi, Weber, Johann Strauss, Bizet, Stravinsky, and Aaron Copland. Solo performances will include Randy Murray on trumpet and Music Director Howard Green on clarinet. Former WFMT radio host Scott Thomas will narrate "A Lincoln Portrait." Additionally, the complete suites from Georges Bizet's opera "Carmen" will be performed.
The news release also said that the band invites everyone to attend and encourages attendees to bring children, grandchildren, students, neighbors, and coworkers.
Further details from the release highlight that the Buffalo Grove Symphonic Band is celebrating its 24th year and is recognized as one of the premier community bands in Northern Illinois. It operates under the Village of Buffalo Grove with founding Music Director Howard Green and Associate Conductor Allison Rakickas.
Ticket prices are set at $20 for adults and $12 at the door. Seniors aged 55 and older and students with ID can purchase tickets for $8. Advance tickets are available online at tickets.bgsb.org or can be purchased at Buffalo Grove Village Hall or from any band member. Tickets will also be sold at the door.
