State Representative Tom Weber has been honored with the "Friend of Agriculture" award by the Illinois Farm Bureau. The recognition was given for his advocacy efforts on behalf of farmers in Illinois. The award presentation took place last month at Richardson Adventure Farm in Spring Grove, where McHenry County Farm Bureau Manager Dan Volkers and Lake County Farm Bureau Director Andy Yarc presented it to Weber.
"Agriculture is one of our state’s most important industries, and it not only puts food on our tables but also drives our economy," stated Weber. "I’m proud to stand alongside Illinois’ farmers and support policies that help agriculture succeed in Illinois."
Weber expressed gratitude towards Richardson Adventure Farm for hosting the event and thanked both the McHenry County Farm Bureau and Lake County Farm Bureau for presenting him with the honor.
The award is based on each legislator's support of farming and agriculture during the 103rd General Assembly. Recipients of this award are recognized for acknowledging the extensive benefits of Illinois' agricultural products and understanding the significant role farmers play locally, nationally, and globally.
The Lake and McHenry County Farm Bureaus have a long history, being among the oldest in the nation. The Lake County Bureau has been in existence since 1914, while the McHenry County Bureau was established in 1916.
