Lake County Sheriff's deputies have arrested a man in connection with a burglary at the Third Lake Gaming Café, which occurred early on November 24. A neighboring business was also burglarized during the incident.

According to a news release from the Lake County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded at approximately 1:15 a.m. on Sunday to a burglar alarm at a gaming café located in the 34500 block of Route 45, Third Lake. They observed a shattered front glass door and evidence of a burglary. Fresh blood was discovered inside the business, which likely came from injuries sustained by the suspect during the break-in. A search of the area led to an encounter with Gilberto Mojarro-Garcia, 36, who had no permanent address. He exhibited fresh cuts on his hands and arms and wore blood-stained clothing. Deputies found a stolen, damaged cash register nearby.

The release said that surveillance footage from the business confirmed Mojarro-Garcia's involvement in the burglary. Deputies arrested him near the scene. Once secured in a squad car, he reportedly began kicking the door and kicked a deputy when they attempted to restrain him; however, the deputy was not injured. Upon arrival at the Lake County Jail, Mojarro-Garcia's aggressive behavior escalated, leading correctional officers to use pepper spray for safety.

The release further indicated that after reviewing the case, the Lake County State's Attorney's Office approved charges against Mojarro-Garcia: two counts of burglary, aggravated battery to a police officer, criminal damage to property, criminal damage to government property, and resisting arrest. Detectives are investigating whether he is connected to other burglaries in the area from the previous week.

The release emphasized that all defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
