FOIA Request to Lincolnshire Police Department Regarding Arrest Records on December 12, 2024.
In our continuous effort to provide comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at the Lake County Gazette have submitted a request under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act (5 ILCS 140) to the Lincolnshire Police Department.
Our request is specifically for a list of all arrests made from January 1, 2018, up until today's date. The requested records should include fields such as the arrestee's name, arrest date, gender, race, date of birth, and the crime committed.
As journalists committed to holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public, access to these public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. We believe that we are eligible for a fee waiver as media professionals given our role in disseminating information.
