FOIA Request to Round Lake Heights Police Department Regarding Arrest Records from 2018 to Present on December 12, 2024.
As part of our ongoing commitment to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at the Lake County Gazette have submitted a request under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act, 5 ILCS 140.
The request is for a list of all arrests made by the Round Lake Heights Police Department from January 1, 2018, till the present date. The information sought includes the name of the arrestee, date of arrest, gender and race of the arrestee, their date of birth, and the crime committed.
Access to public records is essential for us at Lake County Gazette to fulfill our professional responsibilities. These include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. As a media organization involved in gathering and reporting news to the public, we believe we are eligible for a fee waiver as per media professional guidelines.
We will continue our pursuit of transparency and accountability in local government through rigorous reporting and investigation. We await a response from the Round Lake Heights Police Department regarding this request.
