FOIA Request to Mundelein Police Department Regarding Comprehensive Arrest Records on December 12, 2024.

In our continued commitment to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at the Lake County Gazette have submitted a request for records under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act, 5 ILCS 140. The request was made to the Mundelein Police Department in Illinois and pertains specifically to arrest records dating from January 1, 2018, up until the present day.

The requested information includes specific fields such as the arrestee's name, date of arrest, gender, race, date of birth, and the crime committed. We believe that access to these public records is crucial in fulfilling our professional responsibilities which include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public.

As a media organization involved in gathering and reporting news to the public, we have also asked for a fee waiver based on our role in disseminating information.

We eagerly await a response from the Mundelein Police Department and will continue our efforts to provide transparent and accountable news coverage for our readers.
