The Round Lake Police Department is partnering with the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) and other agencies to enhance traffic safety efforts across the state, aiming to reduce speeding. Throughout July, motorists can expect increased patrols monitoring for speeding and other traffic violations.
In recent years, there has been a rise in careless and risky driving. Officials emphasize that regardless of one's confidence in their driving skills, speeding remains dangerous. It creates unnecessary risks for all motorists, reducing the driver’s ability to steer safely around other vehicles, hazardous objects, or unexpected curves.
During this campaign, officers will intensify enforcement of posted speed limits. Drivers should anticipate receiving tickets if violations occur. Stepped-up enforcement will be particularly visible throughout Round Lake on north and south Cedar Lake Rd, Nippersink Rd, Washington St, and various subdivision streets from July 8 to July 31. The campaign aims to reduce traffic crashes, promote safe driving practices, and save lives.
"The Round Lake Police Department is partnering with the Illinois Department of Transportation and other agencies to step up traffic safety efforts across the state to reduce speeding," said a statement from the department.
The "Speeding Catches Up With You" campaign is funded by federal highway safety funds administered by IDOT. It also supports IDOT’s broader "It’s Not a Game" media campaign.
