FOIA Request Sent to Riverwoods Police Department Regarding Arrest Records on December 12, 2024

FOIA Request to Riverwoods Police Department Regarding Arrest Records on December 12, 2024. The Lake County Gazette, a media organization committed to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, has sent a formal request under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act, 5 ILCS 140.

In our pursuit of transparency and accountability in public institutions, we requested an electronic format list of all arrests from January 1, 2018, up until the present date. The fields we asked for include the arrestee's name, arrest date, gender, race, date of birth and the crime committed.

As a media organization involved in gathering and reporting news to the public, access to such public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. We believe that we are eligible for a fee waiver as media professionals given our role in disseminating information.

We will continue to work diligently towards holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public.
