Lake County Sheriff's Office announced the arrest of a man following an attack on an acquaintance with a knife. The incident took place on December 6, 2024, at a motel on North Route 45 in Libertyville, where deputies discovered a 31-year-old man with minor injuries.

According to a news release, Lake County sheriff’s deputies apprehended Javier Moran, 54. Moran had been drinking with two acquaintances when he became argumentative and threatened one of them. After being asked to leave, he returned with a knife and attempted to stab the 31-year-old victim. The victim deflected the knife but sustained minor injuries. Moran then engaged in a physical altercation but was subdued by the victim and another person. He was later transported to a local hospital for treatment before being released into custody.

The Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office charged Moran with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon. A petition was filed to detain him while awaiting trial, and during a court appearance, Moran was ordered to remain in custody until his detention hearing. The case is ongoing, and all defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
