City of North Chicago Public Safety Committee met Dec. 2

Alderman Jackson called the meeting to order.

ROLL CALL:

Ayes: Jackson, Coleman, Evans, Allen, Smith, Murphy, January

Nays: None

Absent: None

I. DISCUSSION/REVIEW OF (7) ADDITIONAL AXON CAMERAS IN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $68,099.85:

Police Chief Lazaro Perez explained that majority of police equipment was Axon. Once the equipment such as tasers is activated they automatically turn on and report to Evidence.com. The total amount of cost was Not to Exceed $68,099.85 over 3 years.

Alderman Smith asked for clarification when the cameras are activated. Chief Perez explained when a weapon is removed (taser or gun) from holster the cameras were activated within 35 ft. Also noted that it was in the police budget.

This will be placed on the next Council Agenda, December 16, 2024.

Alderman Allen moved, seconded by Alderman Smith that Public Safety Committee Meeting stand adjourned.
