The new year has brought grant funding for improvements to Antioch's Centennial Park, as announced by State Representative Tom Weber. The $600,000 grant has been awarded through the state's Open Space Land Acquisition and Development (OSLAD) program, administered by the Department of Natural Resources. Rep. Weber, representing Fox Lake, expressed strong support for the grant application, describing it as a beneficial investment for local families.
"I am pleased to see our tax dollars returning here to benefit all our residents in the community. I was happy to support the grant request through the Dept of Commerce and Economic Opportunity," stated Rep. Weber.
Village officials have indicated that the revitalization of Centennial Park will commence in 2026. The matching grant will assist in updating park facilities such as trails and tennis courts, enhancing accessibility to amenities, and constructing a new park shelter among other improvements.
"Activities in the park help bring communities together, and that's money well spent," concluded Rep. Weber.
