On January 28, 2025, a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was submitted to the Limestone Community High School District 310. The request was made by us at the Lake County Gazette, a media organization dedicated to delivering comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs.
The FOIA request seeks copies of all emails and memos from the past year that contain the keywords "Lucy Calkins" and "Units of Study". These terms are likely related to educational materials or programs implemented within the school district. As a media organization, we believe in holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public.
In light of our role in gathering and disseminating information, we have requested a fee waiver as part of this FOIA application. We await the school district's response and will keep our readers updated on any developments.
According to the Illinois Report Card, the average state teacher salary in 2023 was $73,916, while the state average administrative salary stood at $116,908. The student-to-administrative ratio is reported as 141:1, with an average student-to-teacher ratio of 17:1. Interestingly, over half (58%) of teachers in Illinois hold a master's degree or higher.
