Under the leadership of Principals Janelle Stastny and Cindy Davis, Mesa and Sherrelwood Elementary have achieved Level 5 Certification in the Marzano High Reliability School Framework. This certification represents the highest level attainable and emphasizes the importance of having qualified teachers in every classroom, along with a system of checks and balances to ensure student success.

Five other schools in the district have already achieved Level 5 status: Flynn A Marzano, Academy, Metropolitan Arts Academy, Colorado STEM Academy, Sunset Ridge PK-8, and Harris Park Elementary.

Westminster Public Schools (WPS) collaborates with Marzano Resources and employs outside evaluators to certify that schools meet five specific criteria required by the HRS framework:

- Safe and Supportive Culture

- Effective Teaching in Every Classroom

- Guaranteed and Viable Curriculum

- Standards-Referenced Reporting

- Competency-Based Education

WPS recently accomplished one of its short-term goals outlined in the district’s Destination 2030 Strategic Plan by having all schools certified at Level Two or above.

“These certifications directly impact students by creating safer, more supportive, and effective learning environments,” said Superintendent Dr. Jeni Gotto.
