Dr. Jeni Gotto addressed the Westminster Public Schools community in her first State of the District report during the January 28 Board of Education meeting, declaring that the school district is "strong. "

Gotto, who succeeded Dr. Pamela Swanson following her retirement last summer, said: "Together, we make Westminster Public Schools a place where every student thrives and prepares for a successful future. In a district Where Education is Personal, we all share the responsibility to help every individual reach their full potential. "

During her report, Gotto expressed gratitude to voters for passing a bond election in November and announced that WPS will hold its first meeting of the Forward Together Facilities Initiative (FTFI) next month. This group, composed of district staff and community members, will assess WPS's needs and examine local, regional, and global trends impacting plans.

Gotto also highlighted upcoming developments at the Iver C. Ranum Innovation Campus as it enters Phase Two of its operations this year. These include the launch of a hands-on STEM Lab for eighth graders to explore STEM pathways and a collaboration with Front Range Community College offering certifications and workforce training for adults in the community.

While noting these accomplishments, Gotto acknowledged long-term challenges facing WPS such as potential state funding cuts from Colorado and declining enrollment.
