Lake Forest is set to commence the Ahwahnee Storm Sewer Improvement Project in February, aiming to mitigate flooding and improve drainage along Ahwahnee Lane, Ahwahnee Road, and the Deerpath Golf Course. The initiative involves replacing and enlarging existing storm sewers.
According to a City of Lake Forest news release, construction is expected to take approximately six months, weather permitting. The project will proceed in two phases: initially focusing on the Deerpath Golf Course, followed by enhancements along Ahwahnee Road and Ahwahnee Lane.
The news release states that roads will remain accessible to local traffic during construction, although intermittent lane closures are anticipated. During Phase 1, the Deerpath Golf Course will be closed temporarily. Additionally, a sidewalk near the golf course retention pond will also close temporarily. Residents should anticipate general construction impacts such as noise and increased truck traffic. Work hours are scheduled from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Friday, with potential weekend work.
